Hometown Brazil July 2010 Preparation

The entire US staff for Hometown Brazil July 2010 has been working diligently at the site in Cabreuva and things are coming together very well.  Each staff member has written a brief introduction to show their backgrounds and interests.

Hometown Brazil Dean Brian “Buck” Bohne has served as English Camp Dean in China, Switzerland and in the USA. Buck has 2 Masters Degrees and extensive cross-cultural experience. Buck was a high school foreign exchange student near Porto Alegre, RGS. Buck loves outdoor activities and strives to lead a fun, creative,  and action-filled village!

Associate Dean FreddieMac lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he graduated from College in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish. FreddieMac speaks English and Spanish, has studied French, Portuguese and Chinese and has taught English as a second language with CLV and in Minnesota. FreddieMac loves to bicycle, cook vegetarian food, play ultimate frisbee and practice yoga. FreddieMac looks forward to playing and learning at camp.

Parsley graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a bachelor of science in nursing. She is a home infusion nurse and teaches nursing at a local college. She has studied German, French, Norwegian, Russian, and sign language, but is only fluent in English. At Hometown she is a language teacher and the health care provider. She likes to swim, sing, play music, and loves being at Hometown. This is her second time being at Hometown Brazil.

Ginger is from Avon, MN. She graduated from St. Louis Univ., Madrid campus with a degree in Spanish. She worked for five summers at El lago del bosque, a Concordia Language Villages Spanish camp. In July 2009, Ginger worked at Hometown Europe in Ftan, Switzerland. Ginger is very excited about working with the media club and doing many fun art projects this summer at Hometown Brazil.

Luke is a student at the Pennsylvania State University studying French, International Studies and German. He speaks five languages: English, French, Spanish, German and Norwegian and loves meeting new people. He is one of the leaders for Rock n’ Roll, the musical part of the day and loves to sing and play the guitar. “Peace is the way, and have a great day!”

Hope is a graduate student at the Monterey Institutes of International Studies in California where she is studying TESOL (teaching English as a second language). She speaks English, Spanish, Japanese, and German and loves swimming, dancing, biking, learning new languages and traveling. She is a curriculum facilitator as well a lifeguard for Hometown Brazil. “I am looking forward to meeting you!”

Jack graduated from St. Louis University in Madrid in 2009 with a major in International Business and a minor in Spanish. He currently teaches at a bilingual elementary school in Madrid, Spain. Jack is excited about leading a claymation activity this summer at Hometown Brazil as well as working with the entrepreneurship club.

Scott lives in Bemidji, Minnesota. He enjoys playing sports and doing outdoor activities. He speaks English, French, Spanish and German. He worked at CLV for 10 years and he is a Staff Counselor at Hometown. This is his 4th time at Hometown Brazil and he’s planning to be around for a while.

This is Sunny´s third CLV camp overseas. Teaching dance is a passion of hers and she is excited to share American line dances with Hometown Brazil villagers. Other interests of Sunny´s include playing soccer and doing art projects. She lives in Minnesota and will be off to university in the fall.

Esther lives outside Minneapolis in Minnesota. She has a BA in Education/Biology and has taught English for many years in the Twin Cities and overseas.  She enjoys travel and camping with her family.
